Honestly, I never thought I’d be writing a post like this. I actually debated even writing this at all. It’s taken me at least 10 hours to get all of my thoughts down and edit it.
I’ve heard of other people doing this, and I just knew it wasn’t for me. I always told myself I could probably do it, just to prove a point. I just figured I would never stick with it long term.
But for whatever reason, something just clicked, and I decided to give it a try. So what am I even talking about? Well, just over 7 weeks ago, I decided to give up all meat and dairy products.
As I’ve said before, I talk to both of my parents almost daily. Half of the times I talk to my dad, we end up talking about some random news story for like an hour. (He watches the news everyday and I rarely pay attention to it.)
Last night, our discussion involved the recent public bathroom issue, that most people are blowing out of proportion (typical).
I’ve been in this world for over 30 years, and people still relate me to the baseball player Randy Johnson.
“Wait, that’s your real name?!?!?”
“So, I bet your arm is sore from pitching all those years.”
“Ya, I’m actually not the baseball player.”
I’m not explaining anything new here, I just can’t get over people smoking. There really is no excuse.
Sure, we all know it’s addicting. And I’m sure it’s extremely hard to quit, but it’s 2012. There are tons of products out there to help you, if you really care to stop.
The other most common excuse is, “Well, I only smoke when I drink.” And we all know you only hear that from people who drink frequently. So when you tell me you only smoke when you drink, all I hear is, “Hey, I’m a smoker!”
